The Center strongly recommends completing the Meeting Management and Facilitation Skills Workshop before taking this advanced course. This advanced training builds upon the learning objectives of the meeting management workshop.

This two-day training provides the facilitator with more advanced tools and techniques for generating ideas, consolidating and narrowing ideas, evaluating ideas, and reaching a decision. In addition, participants will learn and have the opportunity to practice facilitating a conversation into action. This guided, participatory group discussion process is both an art and a science that can be used effectively in many situations. This workshop further ensures the facilitator has the appropriate tools for helping groups work more effectively, efficiently, and collaboratively, thus maximizing the group’s potential. The Facilitation Center will provide participants with a certificate of completion and a set of storyboard supplies, giving them the tools they need to start facilitating immediately.

Topics Covered

  • Dealing with Controversial Issues
  • Designing Constructive Conversations
  • Funneling Ideas into Action
  • Prioritization of Ideas
  • Reaching Consensus
  • Spinning Vague Ideas into Specific, Rich Ideas
