Facilitating for Success: Training Dates Set for Winter/Spring 2017

The Facilitation Center at EKU provides professional facilitation services to assist groups in a myriad of ways, including problem solving, team building, strategic planning, and occupational analysis.  While some situations require an external facilitator to get the results you need, many situations can be handled internally.   Our facilitation specialists deliver comprehensive and interactive workshops to prepare others to facilitate their own meetings for better results.  These workshops are designed for facilitators, educators, trainers, human resource professionals, managers, supervisors and those wanting to develop facilitation skills to "Funnel Ideas into Action".

Advanced Facilitation:  February 22-23

This two-day workshop builds on skills learned in our Meeting Management & Facilitation Skills Workshop by providing more advanced tools and techniques for generating ideas, consolidating and narrowing ideas, and reaching a decision. In addition, participants will learn and have the opportunity to practice facilitating a conversation into action. This guided, participatory process to group discussion is both an art and science that can be used effectively in many situations. This workshop further ensures the facilitator has the appropriate tools for helping groups work more effectively, efficiently, and collaboratively, thus maximizing the group’s potential. Participants receive a certificate of completion and set of storyboard supplies, giving participants the tools they need to immediately start facilitating.

DACUM Occupational Analysis:  April 18-20

In this three-day training, participants observe an actual panel of high performing incumbent workers as they create an occupational profile utilizing a facilitated storyboarding process to capture the major duties, tasks, knowledge, skills, and traits of an occupation. Throughout the workshop, trainees observe the panel, debrief with the instructor and participate in the panel’s process in a variety of ways that don’t interfere with the validity of the panel’s work. This “fishbowl” method allows trainees to see real-life events as they unfold, allowing trainees to see first-hand the exhilarating and challenging situations that can arise during meetings and how professionals deal with them as they arise.

Facilitation Skills Certificate Program

For more intensive facilitation training, our workshops can be combined with a practicum to complete our Facilitation Skills Certificate Program.  There are three core courses which include: 1) Meeting Management and Facilitation Skills; 2) Advanced Facilitation; and a 3) Practicum in Facilitation. To round out the program, participants also have a choice between two electives: 1) DACUM Occupational Analysis Training for Facilitators or 2) Strategic Planning.
